Choose Garden Glow in St. Louis if your family wants to walk among the lights and spend about an hour outdoors. Choose a drive-thru if staying seated, keeping warm, or paying one vehicle price matters more. Christmas Eve plans favor the drive: the Garden is closed that night.

What Garden Glow Does Well
Walking lets you stop beneath the displays, linger for photos, and set your own pace. Garden Glow has more than two million lights, with public warming and s’more-roasting fire pits at Central Axis and Linnean Plaza. S’mores kits cost extra.
The Holiday Flower and Train Show is also included with evening admission. It adds something to the visit for children interested in model trains and miniature landscapes.
Limited walking stamina does not automatically rule out the Garden. Its accessibility information lists complimentary manual wheelchairs and $35 motorized scooter rentals. Equipment availability is limited; Glow scooters can be reserved with admission. Check those arrangements before buying tickets for someone who needs assistance.
Garden Glow runs on select nights from November 14, 2026, through January 2, 2027. Free parking and shuttle service help with arrival, but the advertised route time does not include parking, entry, or your stops. Leave room in the evening for those, particularly if bedtime is the limiting factor.
Two Other Walk-Through Light Shows in St. Louis
Wild Lights at the Saint Louis Zoo
Wild Lights at the Saint Louis Zoo runs on select nights from November 27 through December 30, 2026, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Last entry is at 8 p.m.
General admission costs $19, member admission costs $16, and children under 2 enter free. Santa visits, the carousel, the 4D Theater, and parking in the Zoo lots are included, with parking subject to availability. Selected animal exhibits are open; this is not a full daytime Zoo visit.
Those extras matter. Families wanting the carousel and animal exhibits may choose the Zoo even when vehicle admission elsewhere costs less.
Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights
For the Anheuser-Busch Christmas lights, the official Brewery Lights page points to an October 26 announcement, with its FAQ still coming soon as of October 10.
Use the forthcoming 2026 schedule and prices for your comparison. Last season’s Flex ticket price and free drive-thru nights do not establish this year’s offer.
What a Drive-Thru Does Better
The car is useful when someone in your group needs to stay seated or dislikes spending an hour outdoors. You can keep the heater on and bring blankets without carrying them around a walking route.
For a toddler who struggles with long outings, that can simplify the evening. Keep children buckled in their usual seats throughout the drive. If your child enjoys walking and looking at displays, the Garden may still be the better choice.
A vehicle price also makes the budget easier to work out. At Santa’s Magical Kingdom, the rate depends on the vehicle category and day, rather than the number of family members riding inside. Everyone still needs a proper seat.
The drive continues on Christmas Eve and Christmas night, giving families an option when Garden Glow is closed. Cold or light rain may make the car more comfortable; dangerous road conditions are a reason to postpone either outing.
The Math for Your Group Size
For two nonmember adults and three children ages 3 to 12, Garden Glow costs $62 to $86 before any fees or extras. The exact total depends on the evening you choose.
| Admission option | Cost for that family of five |
| Garden Glow Family Night | $62: two $22 adult tickets plus three $6 child tickets |
| Garden Glow General Admission evening | $84: two $24 adult tickets plus three $12 child tickets |
| Garden Glow Premium Evening | $86: two $25 adult tickets plus three $12 child tickets |
| Wild Lights, general admission | $95: five $19 tickets |
| Santa’s Magical Kingdom, standard family vehicle | $35 Sunday through Friday; $40 Saturday; tax included |
Garden figures come from the 2026 pricing calendar. These are admission comparisons; food, photos, rides, and other purchases change the final spend.
On a Family Night, that group pays $62 at the Garden versus $35 for our vehicle drive, a $27 difference. On a Premium Saturday, it is $86 versus $40, a $46 difference.
For couples, the calculation is closer. Two nonmember adults pay $44 to $50 at Garden Glow. Two existing Garden members pay $34 on a Family Night, slightly less than our $35 weekday vehicle rate.
Use the $60 category when comparing a 12- to 15-passenger van or another larger vehicle. The $35 rate does not apply to every vehicle carrying a big group.
Which One Fits Your Family?
| Your situation | Likely better fit |
| A toddler who tires quickly or dislikes the cold | Drive-thru, with everyone staying seated |
| A relative who wants to avoid outdoor walking | Drive-thru; Garden Glow remains an option with suitable mobility support |
| Five people in a standard family vehicle, with cost the priority | Drive-thru |
| Older children who want to move around and stop at displays | Garden Glow |
| A date night centered on a stroll and photos | Garden Glow |
| Christmas Eve or Christmas night | Santa’s Magical Kingdom, since Garden Glow is closed |
| A cold or rainy evening with safe roads | Drive-thru for less weather exposure |
| Someone who needs a quieter version of the Garden event | Consider Garden Glow’s November 30 Sensory Night |
Choose by what the people coming with you enjoy and can comfortably manage. Age alone does not decide the outing.
When Garden Glow in St. Louis Is the Better Night
Pick the Garden when walking among the lights is the experience you want. A seated drive cannot offer the same freedom to pause beneath a display or stay at a fire pit.
For families hoping to see Santa, November 23, 24, and 30 and December 1 combine his scheduled visits with Family Night pricing. Children’s tickets for ages 3 to 12 cost $6 on those evenings.
November 30 is also Sensory Night, with modified displays and calming areas. Adults planning an evening without children can check Jingle and Mingle on November 20. Buy for the specific event and entry time that suit your group.
Making the Drive Night Work at Santa’s Magical Kingdom
Our displays include four-story Kingdom Doors, a 300-foot light waterfall, and the Tunnel of Dancing Lights, which stretches the length of a football field. See the displays you’ll drive past before your visit.
The season runs November 20 through January 3. Bring cash for admission at the exit; an ATM is available in Kringle’s General Store. Santa is in the store nightly through December 23. Check our Santa photo details if that is part of your plan.
For an open-air outing without walking the route, holiday wagon rides cost $18 per person, with blankets provided. They have separate reservations and blackout dates, including Christmas Eve. Booking a train or wagon ride for two or more people waives vehicle admission. Check the schedule and booking total before choosing this option.

How much are Garden Glow tickets?
In 2026, advance nonmember adult tickets cost $22 on Family Nights, $24 on General Admission evenings, and $25 on Premium Evenings. Children ages 3 to 12 cost $6 on Family Nights or $12 otherwise. Same-night adult tickets bought at or after 4:30 p.m. cost $2 more. Check the official pricing calendar for your date.
How long does it take to walk through Garden Glow?
The approximately one-mile path takes 45 minutes to an hour, according to the Garden. Allow additional time for arrival and any food, photo, or Santa stops.
Is Garden Glow good for toddlers?
It can be, if your toddler enjoys an outdoor outing and you plan for the temperature and route length. Bring your own stroller if needed; the Garden does not rent them. A drive-thru may fit better when staying warm and seated is the priority.
Is Garden Glow open on Christmas Eve?
No. Garden Glow is closed December 24 and 25, 2026. Santa’s Magical Kingdom is open from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day.
Are there free Christmas lights in St. Louis?
The wider St. Louis area has free options, including Way of Lights in Belleville, Illinois. The outdoor display accepts donations; some accompanying activities cost extra. Check the current schedule before driving over.
What happens at Garden Glow if it rains?
Garden Glow operates in rain or snow unless the Garden cancels for dangerous or extreme weather. Tickets for a canceled evening can be used on another remaining Glow night. Choosing to change your own booking is a separate exchange process.
